School Uniforms don't have to be stuffy like these are. They can allow students to have their own freedom in choices of which different uniform parts to wear.
The picture can be used to show one side of uniforms, the more rigid side that I don't really like.

I think this is a really good idea to show in your argument a picture of uniforms that you personally do not like. It will help you argue the different types of uniforms while having a visual effect. Although, where do these children go to school, and is this a typical uniform or are they usually more casual? Make sure to fully explain the type of uniform but overall I think it will really help your argument.

Even so.. if the students have to wear a uniform where is there freedom to express them self?? I can see that uniforms can help keep students on track instead of possibly concerned of what they look like but how are they to show who they really are without being able to show that in the style of clothing they wear?

there does have to be a line between freedom of expression and common decency. Dress codes generally are ineffective because they are, as I have seen, unenforced most of the time. I personally am disgusted at the "trampy" style of clothing that girls in elementary school are beginning to wear just be cause their "hero" wears it on the TV/Music video! The media needs to act as well as the school districts, maybe then we'd also have less sexual predators preying off little kids.

I agree with Justin. Even though you had the choice in your uniform, some schools may end up being stricter then your school was. Some schools may not allow kids to choose what they wear, even as seniors. Being your self and expressing is part of our first amendment right.

I liked the presentation of your ideas in your post. I thought that the uniforms in the picture were good for what you are going for in your writing.Although, I also think that maybe you should have picked a picture were the children do not look so happy in their "stuffy" uniforms.

I think the picture have picked emphasizes very good the typical stereotypes with which people commonly associate school uniforms. However,as you said, there can and should be ways to make the wearing of a school uniform less strict and imposing...Yet i like that you picked that picture since it feeds the common stereotypes and prejudices made by the opponents of school uniforms
